Supported Holidays Victoria Pty Ltd ('SHV') is a private company specializing in holidays for people with an intellectual disability or an acquired brain injury who are unable to experience the fun of going on holidays without support.
Offered are weekend, mid-week and one week holidays departing and ending in Ballarat. All transport and accomodation is provided and qualified staff support our guests at all times during the holidays.
Supported Holidays Victoria is owned and operated by Joan and Peter Bowler. Supported Holidays Victoria is a combination of 2 things we know a lot about - supporting people with a disability and travel. Between us we have a wealth of experience. Joan has 30 years experience in the disability services field, an Advanced Certificate in Developmental Disabilities, a current First Aid Level 1 Certificate, a current Working with Children check, a current Police check and an Endorsed driver's licence. Peter has 13 years experience in the disability services field, a current Working with Children check and current Police check.
Peter is the Director of the company and he has a Bachelor of Arts and a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration. He has held senior management positions within the State Government over his working life.
We became involved in the disability field in 1980, when we became cottage parents in Ballarat caring for children with an intellectually disability. Since this time Joan has worked in private and government Community Residential Units ('CRU's) in the role of Supervisor. Joan has been part of many positive changes in supporting people to achieve their goals by organising holidays and giving them choices. Until recently, we were foster parents caring for a young man over a period of five years.
We have lived in Ballarat for over 30 years, and have also travelled to many great spots in Victoria and further afield. We are keen to share our passion for travel with our guests and will fully support them to have a wonderful holiday experience. We look forward to showing off all that Ballarat and the rest of Victoria has to offer in our holidays. Supported Holidays Victoria also employs other experienced staff. All of our carefully selected staff have police checks and take their role as Support Staff seriously. The whole team is committed to supporting guests to experience the fun of going on a holiday.
